About

ABOUT PHASES

Phases, owned by sisters Kristina and Heather Walker, first opened in 2013 and is Thanet’s only dedicated pole and aerial fitness studio.

Centrally located near the Westwood Cross area of Thanet in a unit on the Westwood Industrial Estate (behind Hornby Hobbies), it’s easily accessible from Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs.

Free parking is available along Channel Road and on Enterprise Road, or alternatively there is plenty of parking available outside Home Bargains and B&Q, which are only a few minutes walk away.

With performances at local events, competitions, yearly photoshoots and our showcases at the studio, there’s plenty of opportunity for our students to show off to friends and family!

Kristina Walker

Founder, Owner and Head Instructor

Kristina first tried pole over 15 years ago and since then has done every role possible: instructor, studio owner, performer, competitor, competition organiser, judge and instructor trainer.

She has a wealth of knowledge in all disciplines (except hammock!) which is further backed up by a variety of fitness and aerial qualifications.

Kristina is also a Registered Osteopath and runs her clinic, Aerial Osteopath, from the studio clinic room.

Besides running the studio and teaching at Phases Kristina is a member of the Xpert Trainer Team teaching pole and aerial instructor courses. She is particularly proud of having authored the Static Trapeze Instructor manual for Xpert.

Heather Walker

Owner and Instructor

Heather fell in love with dance and gymnastics at a young age.

In 2009 she discovered pole dancing and after only seven months she entered her first competition and won. Since then, she has gone on to gain several more titles and has represented Great Britain at the World Championships with her sister Kristina three times!

Alongside Phases, Heather also works as a personal trainer and Assistant Fitness Education Manager for gym and personal training qualifications.

She also has a Level 2 Qualification in British Sign Language and Level 3 Supporting Clients with Long-Term Conditions.

Laura Oliver

Social Media and Admin

Laura first gave pole fitness a go during her final year of university in London where she studied International Relations and Languages.

She joined us as a student in 2017 and has loved trying everything we offer.

She’s now looking after our social media and admin as well as training to teach pole herself.

Seren Stewart

Junior Aerial, Silks & Hoop Instructor

Seren has been a student of ours since the very beginning!

She began her teacher training in 2018 and is now our junior silks and hoop instructor (and the kids love her!).

Outside of Phases, Seren is the deputy manager of an early years nursery, so she has vast experience working with children.

She is also a qualified yoga instructor and will be starting yoga classes at Phases soon, so watch this space!

Anna Sweeney

Trapeze Instructor

Anna is a 40-year-old mum of two. Having never tried anything like it before, she came to her first pole class in 2016 and has never looked back.

She now enjoys aerial hoop, static trapeze, pole fitness and aerial silks.

Anna is a qualified Xpert Static Trapeze instructor, having qualified in 2021, and is now training to instruct silks too.

She is also a qualified first aider.

Abi Davis

Pole Instructor

Abi has been dancing from a young age, have previously done ballroom, Latin, disco, ballet, jazz, tap, modern, rock n roll, gymnastics.

She did a pole taster in January 2017 and hasn’t stopped since. She recently passed her Xpert pole instructor training and is currently assisting with beginner pole classes.

Abi also has a BSc in Computing!

Polina Zakharenko

Pole Instructor

Polina tried pole for the very first time in 2019 in her native Ukraine and fell in love with the world of dance after buying her first pole heels. She says that femininity, flow and working with the body is all you need to feel happy.

Since moving to the UK in 2022, she has completed a UK instructor course (Xpert) and now teaches our purely pole dance classes.
